Dumpling Hunting (dumplinghunting.com) is run by Sunder & Co. This page explains what information the site uses, who else handles it, and how to reach us. Questions about privacy: meet@sunderandco.com.
What stays in your browser
You don't need an account to use Dumpling Hunting, and today the site has no sign-in.
The things you save are kept in your own browser's local storage, on your device:
- your saved stores (My Stores), under the key
dumpling-my-stores, plus your main store underdumpling-store - your watchlist (
dumpling-watchlist-v1) - your "I found it" marks (
dumpling-found-v1) - the time of your last visit to My Stores (
dumpling-last-hunt-at)
To show stock at your saved stores, your browser asks our server for those stores by their store ID. We don't save your list in our database, and we never send it to Google. To delete it, remove the stores and items in My Stores and your watchlist, or clear this site's data in your browser settings.
Finding stores near you
If you search by ZIP code, the ZIP code goes to our server to find nearby stores. If the ZIP isn't one of our store ZIP codes, our server asks Zippopotam.us (api.zippopotam.us) for its location. Only the ZIP code is sent to them. We don't save the ZIP code in our database.
If you choose to use your location, your browser asks your permission first. Your browser then works out the closest store on your device and asks our server for stores near that store. Your exact location isn't sent to our server.
Hosting
Vercel hosts the site and our data service. Like any web host, Vercel receives the technical details of each visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, so it can deliver the pages.
Maps
Pages with a store map use Mapbox. When a map loads, your browser connects to Mapbox to get the map, and Mapbox receives your IP address and details about how the map is used. See Mapbox's privacy policy.
Ads and cookies
Ads aren't running on Dumpling Hunting right now. When they are, free visitors in the United States may see ads from Google AdSense, and Google uses cookies when it shows them. To decide whether to show ads, the site checks which country a visit comes from, which Vercel works out from the IP address. Visitors outside the United States aren't shown ads. Hunter members won't see ads.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to show ads based on your earlier visits to this site or other sites. Google's use of advertising cookies lets Google and its partners show you ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
You can turn off personalized ads in Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some other vendors' use of cookies for personalized ads at aboutads.info. Google explains how it uses information from sites that show its ads at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and how it uses cookies in ads at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Ad units never receive your saved stores, watchlist or found marks.
eBay links
Every product page has a "Find it on eBay" link. These links are eBay Partner Network affiliate links: as an eBay Partner, we may earn a commission from qualifying purchases. The link tells eBay which dumpling page you came from. Once you're on eBay, eBay's own privacy notice applies.
Hunter and payments
Hunter, our paid plan, isn't live yet, so the site takes no payments today. We'll update this page before it launches.
Emails you send us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and we use them only to answer you and fix the site.
Contact us or ask for deletion
Email meet@sunderandco.com with any privacy question. To ask us to delete your emails to us, write to the same address with "Privacy" in the subject line. Your saved stores, watchlist and found marks are only in your browser, so you can delete them yourself at any time (see above).
